Is Family Therapy for You?
- Do conflicts or arguments arise frequently?
- Do you often find yourself regretting things you’ve said or done?
- Are feelings being hurt more often than before?
- Have you noticed a growing distance between family members?
- Is there a power struggle with your child that feels difficult to manage?
- Would you like to improve your relationship with your adult children?
- Is your family neurodiverse, and do you struggle to understand each other?
- Do you want to restore joy and connection within your family?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, family therapy could provide a valuable opportunity for growth and healing.
Therapeutic Approach
Utilizing the systemic approach in my clinical work I see families’ struggles as a relationship problem rather than the fault of one person.
How does therapy work?
There are 4 parts to therapy:
Assessment
The first few sessions will be spent on assessing your family’s interactions and values.
We will take a closer look at your patterns of interactions.
Goal setting
Based on the assessment findings and your therapy objectives we will come up with achievable goals that would improve your family’s life.
Reaching the goals
We will work on creating more healthy patterns of interactions between your family members.
It may include, but is not limited to changes in:
- Communication
- Setting healthy boundaries
- Emotional regulation
- Parenting
- As well as addressing unresolved issues from past
If applicable, we will address unresolved issues from the past that are still impacting the family relationships.
Planning for the future
At the final part of therapy, we will plan for the future to maximize the chance of sustaining healthier family interactions today.
